My Merch Box #3 from the BTS ARMY Global Fanclub Membership finally arrived. (I ordered this in April. In fact, I've already ordered Merch box #4 and #5, so god knows when those are supposed to ship out. Hopefully before the end of this year.) As mentioned previously, the biggest change in this year's membership was the addition of the Merch Pack Membership option. The price of this membership is $150 USD rather than the usual $22, but it includes four merch boxes during the membership period. Shipping costs aren't included, so the $150 price tag ends up being closer to $250 (or more, depending on where you live), but I still saw it as being worth it considering each merch box comes with about $50 - 100 worth of merch, and they're all exclusive membership items that you can't get otherwise. Merch Box #3 features a DIY kit for "ARMY's room." Basically, the main box features an empty space with illustrations hand-drawn by BTS that is meant to look like a bedroom. The DIY kit comes with various wooden panels that can be inserted into the accompanying floorboard or stuck on the "walls" of the room. It also comes with little curtains that you can adhere to the window of the main box.
It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to fully assemble, depending on how fast you can peel the backing of those panels. And whether or not you skipped the instructions and totally adhered the curtains to the wrong place and had to peel it off to put on the clear panel of the box, not the back of the box where the window illustration is. Anyway, I thought the concept and finished product for the DIY Kit was really cute, but at the end of the day, quite useless...
... Until I realized that it's a BLUETOOTH SPEAKER. Okay, so I may have skimmed over the instructions but I looked at the little drawer that's inside of the box and I was like, "What the hell is this for?" and just thought it was an extra compartment to like, hide random things. But behind the drawer is a removable box that has a little speaker, a little switch, and a panel to put in AA batteries. And that's when I looked at the back of the box and noticed some cutouts — one of the BTS logo for a speaker, and then a little hole for a switch. So I put some batteries in there, put the box back and drawer back in place, and then turned on the switch at the back, and it showed up on my phone as a Bluetooth device. And then I was blasting BTS songs through this speaker and thought, "Well, well, well. Not so useless now, are we?"
The kit also comes with removable stickers of all the members (they are apparently designed to "fit inside ARMY's room," but like… there's no more space in there for any member, let alone seven, so maybe stick them on the outside... or maybe in your car... or on your laptop), a pack of tattoo stickers "with warm messages of support in BTS members' handwriting to cheer on ARMY," and of course, a set of the requisite member photocards (all seven members are included).
Anyway, I'm still shook that it's a Bluetooth speaker. Whoever thought of this should totally get a raise.
