Photolog 2019: Day 361 of 365

My friend Ying and I headed down to Yorkville this morning to make it to the BTS Taehyung cafe birthday event at Cafe Bora. By the time we got there just past noon (the cafe opens at noon, which is when the event was slated to start), there was already quite a significant line-up — we were #64 and #65 in line. Though it was really mild outside today (a high of 9°C — amazingly warm for December in Toronto), it starts to feel freezing after 1.5 hours. (It also didn't help that I hadn't yet slept due to staying up to watch the KBS Song Festival. Guys, being tired and cold is the worst.) As it turns out, the cafe only seats about 10 people at a time, which is why it took so long for us to get in. I mean, I get why they picked Cafe Bora, because it's a Korean dessert cafe and "bora" means purple in Korean and the colour is largely associated with BTS... but wow, they really needed to pick a bigger space. I mean, you gotta expect there to be at least 200 ARMYs coming by (some with parents, too), meaning long line-ups, and it's in the middle of winter, too, so it's freaking cold. We didn't get in until around 1:30PM, and it was cramped as hell 'cause they were letting more people in than they were letting them out.

That having been said, we did manage to get two of the Purple Bora Lattes and the special BTS edition Purple Bora Tiramisu. Almost everything at Cafe Bora is made with purple yams, so basically everything tastes like taro, and I'm not mad at it. The lattes could've been hotter with more taro flavour, but the tiramisu was excellent — it consists of a layer of spongy cake, a purple sweet potato purée base, and then a light cheesy cream. The BTS edition ones they were serving today had the BTS logo dusted on top with yam powder, which was an adorable touch that I haven't seen at any of the other cafe events I've been to. (Normally, the cafes will just hold the event and give out the cup sleeves with the purchase of a drink, but they won't change the actual food or drink from their menu to fit the BTS theme.) We were only allowed to sit at a table for 10 minutes before we had to leave (for the sake of turnaround, which I understand) so we quickly took photos of everything and scarfed down our tiramisu. (The lovely girls from Mikrokosmos in TO also stopped by our table to chat with us, who remembered us from the Bangtan Holiday event they organized a couple weeks ago. They are super sweet and adorable.) But we did get our lovely cup sleeves plus an awesome goody bag with multiple photocards and a purple ribbon heart pin. Thank you to BTS Purple Ribbon ARMY Canada for all your hard work in putting together this event!

HAPPY (EARLY) TAE DAY!
