Okay, as all the performances have been uploaded within an hour of the show ending, some thoughts on this year's KBS Song Festival:
- I woke up at 4:00PM yesterday and then took a nap from 8:00PM - 11:30PM just so I could pull an all-nighter to watch this. Honestly, sometimes my dedication towards BTS astounds myself.
- Because BTS, as the biggest attending artist, is always slated to go last at these end-of-year music shows, this "Song Festival" (or Gayo Daechukje) in particular felt like it was 8,000 YEARS LONG, LIKE HOLY FUCK.
- BTS showed up at the beginning of the show when all the artists performing were introduced, then we didn't see them again until hours later for a two-minute backstage interview, and then finally — FUCKING FINALLY! — they came on stage around 9:20AM (11:20PM KST), literally 3.5 hours after the show started.
- But they did get a five-song slot (three lives, two pre-recordings), so at least it made the 8,000-year-long wait more worth it.
- I'm surprised they chose to perform "Go Go" this year! I forgot how cute this performance is live. A light song to start off the night, and in nice silky pajama sets and robes, too.
- Absolutely fucking loved "HOME." We've only heard it live during their 5th Musters in Korea and Japan, so I'm so glad that they chose to perform this publicly. Their vocals — especially Jimin's — are absolutely stunning while singing this live. Such an underrated song from Map of the Soul: Persona.
- The camera angles for the entire KBS Song Festival were ABYSMALLY ATROCIOUS. KBS needs to hire new filming crew, ASAP. Everyone deserved better. I hope there are Bangtan Bombs coming out soon for these performances.
- This performance of "Dionysus" damn near killed me. These boys in those suits? It should be made illegal. But especially Jimin, in that (beautifully cut, perfectly tailored) suit with that silver hair featuring that glorious forehead? The "CEO Jimin" look? HOLY FUCK. I died and got resurrected about six times during the performance because he was oozing so much goddamn sex appeal. Fucking Park Jimin. If he wasn't already my bias, I'd be getting hardcore bias wrecked right now. WRECKED.
- They did a massive group song for the end of show that featured all the artists attending. It was cute. It was only right to start the song with BTS (Jungkook, of course), and end the song with BTS (Jikook's beautiful harmonies!). Because they know that ARMYs just sat through FOUR FUCKING HOURS OF THIS TERRIBLY FILMED SHOW just to be able to watch BTS perform.
- And now I gotta get ready to go to a BTS global cafe birthday event for Taehyung in Yorkville, so no sleep for me yet. But BTS is worth it. THEY'RE ALWAYS WORTH IT.
