Arrived in NYC around 3:00 PM. Decided to take an Uber into the city instead of a yellow cab 'cause the wait in the taxi line was at least 30 minutes. Of course, we didn't realize that the UN was still in NYC and a ton of streets going into midtown were blocked off. As a result, it took us 1.5 hours to get to our hotel in Times Square. Needless to say, we were tired. And hungry.
We met up with my brother and Sunny for dinner, partially because I have to see them at least once whenever I go to NYC and because I won't see them until next year (he's spending Christmas with Sunny's family in Pennsylvania this year), but mostly because I needed to pick up my BTS concert tickets for Saturday from him. My brother made reservations for us at Seamore's, which just opened up a brand new location in the Financial District, and we had a most excellent seafood dinner: freshwater oysters to start, followed by coconut curry mussels with charred bread and crispy squid with citrus aioli to share, and then the Maine-style lobster roll with cottage fries for my main. The calamari was really nothing to write home about, but the mussels were beautifully fragrant with a hint of ginger, and the lobster roll was especially fresh with huge, juicy chunks of lobster meat. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for good seafood in NYC.
We were insanely full by the time we left Seamore's, so we decided to take a walk. Since it was Chelsea's first time in NYC, I took the opportunity to show her around the landmarks in the Financial District: One World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial, and the Oculus.
We took the subway from there back up to Times Square and decided to do a little late-night shopping. (I only shop in Times Square at 10:00 PM or later. It's still busy, but not like, mosh pit-packed.) Honestly, bless the employees who work at the retailers in Times Square. I don't know how they can work until midnight and also deal with that much chaos on a daily basis. Of course, Chelsea's store of choice was Sephora and mine was Line Friends, 'cause you know I had to look at all the BT21 stuff in person.
The NYC store actually doesn't carry nearly as many things as the Line Friends stores in Seoul so they didn't have the majority of the products I was looking for, but I did end up getting a couple graphic tees and a couple hoodies (in my faves, Chimmy and Cooky) that I totally didn't need (and probably won't wear in public) but were just too fucking cute to resist.
Ended our night walking around Times Square and getting Pumpkin Spice Frappuccinos from Starbucks (which is, amazingly, open 24 hours a day) in lieu of dessert. It's the perfect drink when you want that taste of fall but it's still grossly humid outside.
