This week's Saturday Nine:
- This song contains many weather references (clouds, rainbows, sunshine, rain). How's the sky where you are today? I'm in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and it's mostly sunny with a few clouds.
- Bobby Sherman sings that when he's alone, he imagines his "little woman" is right there beside him. Do you often daydream? All the time, mostly about winning the lottery.
- Bobby had a very bright smile. Do you ever use whiteners on your teeth? Just whitening toothpaste.
- He was beloved for his shiny hair. If we were to peek in your bathroom, how many haircare products would we find? Eight. In my shower alone, I keep a tub of Lush Big Shampoo, a bottle of Herbal Essences White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Shampoo, a bottle of Herbal Essences Cucumber & Green Tea Shampoo, and a massive pump bottle of Verb Hydrating Conditioner. Do I need three shampoos? No. But variety is the spice of life. I also keep a big can of L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray and a few Bumble and Bumble products (Hairdresser's Invisible Oil, Thickening Dryspun Finish, and Cityswept Finish) for when I'm in the mood to style my hair.
- After high school, Bobby attended Pierce, a community college in the west San Fernando Valley. For culinary students, Pierce offers courses in canning — specifically apples and peaches. If we were to peek into your pantry, would we find canned fruits? Nah, I only keep fresh fruit.
- As an actor, one of Bobby's earliest performances was on the TV show Honey West. That series revolved around a female "private eye" adept at martial arts. Do you have any self-defence moves (that don't involve a weapon)? Kick or knee to the groin, open hand strike to the eyes, and run like hell.
- In 1966, Bobby did this rather energetic commercial for milk. Do you often enjoy a glass of milk? Gross, no. I love milk incorporated into food and other drinks like coffee or tea but not on its own. I haven't had a glass of milk in over two decades.
- When his show business career waned, he became a paramedic. Have you ever called 911? Yes, when I got into a huge car accident on the 404 Southbound a decade ago. I somehow managed to get out of my totalled car, walk over to the side, and call 911 — not realizing that three other drivers had stopped on the side of the road to call 911 for me.
- Random Question: Which book do you think you could learn more from — The Joy of Sex or The Joy of Cooking? The Joy of Cooking.
