Starting the weekend off right with some deep-fried deliciousness at bb.q Chicken for dinner tonight:
Crispy Shrimp Menbosha and Original Cheese Balls
Boneless Golden Fried Chicken
I first tried bb.q Chicken in NYC six years ago (it was actually the first time I ever tried Korean fried chicken), and now having tried so many different Korean fried chicken joints, I think bb.q Chicken might actually be my favourite. We got the boneless Golden Fried Chicken, and it's incredible — each piece quite literally has the most perfect, crunchy, golden skin, and the boneless version contains only dark meat (!!!) so each piece was extra juicy and tender. No need to sort through bones and cartilage or suffer through dry white meat! Frankly, I think this alone makes bb.q Chicken superior than like, 80% of other Korean fried chicken restaurants around here.
What was even more notable, however, was the crispy shrimp menbosha — an item I've wanted to try since watching Jin make them in his cooking vlog last year. Back then, I asked, "Where can I find a restaurant that serves menbosha?" Well, I HAVE FINALLY FOUND IT. And not only have I found it, but they are PHENOMENALLY DELICIOUS. I had high expectations for menbosha, anyway, 'cause how could you go wrong with deep-fried shrimp sandwiches, you know? But like, these are A REVELATION. Like, I would quite literally go back to bb.q Chicken and just get 3 orders of these and forego everything else...
