Dining Out: Mozzarella Caprese, Calamari Fritti, Polpette, Diavola Pizza, Roast Rack of Lamb, and Seafood Linguine at Il Postino

My brother and sis-in-law flew in this afternoon for my dad's 70th birthday celebration tomorrow, so we decided to start the weekend off with an incredible Italian feast at Il Postino:

Mozzarella caprese

Calamari fritti

Polpette

Diavola pizza

Roast rack of lamb special

Seafood linguine

To start, mozzarella caprese (mozzarella di bufala, cherry tomatoes, aged balsamic, basil), calamari fritti with lemon and garlic aioli, polpette (classic pork and veal meatballs, braised in a tomato sauce, fresh ricotta, basil), and a Diavola pizza (spicy soppressata, mushrooms, tomato sauce, basil). A special of the day, a gorgeous rack of lamb with roasted potatoes and rapini, to share. And finally, my chosen entree, the seafood linguine, filled with mussels, prawns, scallops, and calamari in a white wine sauce with crushed tomatoes. 

Every single thing we ate tonight was spectacular, just beautiful flavour combinations and textures and consistencies in every dish. Hell, even the bread basket was good. The last time I came here was nine years ago and I gotta say, the restaurant has gone through drastic improvements in the quality of food, the menu curation, and the service, which was fantastic. I would go so far as to say it might be one of the best Italian restaurants in Markham right now.
