This week's Friday Five:
- What's better in its middle than in its edges, beginnings, or ends? All of the Harry Potter books. (I'm re-reading the whole series right now.)
- Why is a sunrise better than a sunset? Actually, I've grown to appreciate sunrises more because my schedule is nocturnal. For me, when the sun rises, it's time for bed. And I usually get up a couple hours before the sun sets. But I actually find that everything just looks so pretty when the world is brightening up for a new day rather than darkening for the night.
- What's better in retrospect than when you experienced it? High school.
- What songs have wonderful endings? Among many others, "We are Bulletproof: The Eternal" by BTS. The last line just concludes the whole point of the song so beautifully. Puts me in my feels every single time.
- What was the first thing you unwrapped in 2021? A new bag of bread! I had dinner around 1:00AM (which is pretty typical for my schedule) because I was hungry but I needed something fast because I wanted to get back to playing The Sims 4 (which is what I was doing literally through countdown into the new year) and decided on eggs and toast.
I'm naturally nocturnal, so my life is a steady fight to maintain some kind of normal human sleep schedule. When I was teaching, summer breaks and winter breaks meant going to bed shortly after sunrise, too. And I do my best writing between midnight and four. So I'm right there with you, when I can be! :) Happy new year. Here's hoping we're both attending concerts safely by the time it's through.
ReplyDeleteI'm also naturally nocturnal! Man, when I first started my job at the bank, I had to do 7:00AM - 3:00PM and it was pure torture. My body wouldn't let me go to bed until at least 1:00AM every day, no matter how tired I was, and I had to get up for 5:30AM. Working 4:00PM - midnight now fits my schedule perfectly, lol. I might be the only one who ever bids for this shift.
DeleteI'm crossing fingers that live concerts can start up again this year, but I'm not very optimistic. :/
Happy New Year!
