Chelsea really wanted to go back to Daan Go Cafe for brunch after last week's venture, so we decided to go back this afternoon. I usually don't like returning to restaurants so soon after a previous visit, but I did really enjoy the brunch there — and I do have a mission to eat everything on their menu, after all — so I complied. (What, like I'm gonna say no to delicious food?)
Satay Beef Hash
Today's choice: the Satay Beef Hash, inspired by satay beef noodles, made with their 72-hour marinated beef brisket, potatoes, a poached egg, and Malaysian satay sauce. I do prefer their Eggs Benedict overall in terms of flavour profile, but the beef hash is really tasty, especially if you like satay. (Which I do.) It has just enough satay sauce that you get that awesome peanut flavour in every bite, but it doesn't overwhelm the the beef, which has an excellent smoky flavour. The Brussels sprouts and mushrooms add a nice textural contrast and mouthfeel as well.
"Cheesecake Fromage"
Naturally, we couldn't miss out on dessert (it's basically a crime), so I decided on the absurdly adorable Cheesecake Fromage, which is key lime cheesecake, passionfruit glaze, and lime truffle coated in white chocolate in the shape of Swiss cheese with a white chocolate and key lime mouse on top. (As with all desserts at Daan Go, it was almost too cute to eat. Almost.) Dense but still soft, tart but still sweet, and good amounts of both creamy and crunchy textures. If you like key lime and you like cheesecake, you can't go wrong with this. Six cakes down, 11 more to go!
