Photolog 2018: Day 178 of 365

Over a month after its release, my pre-order for all four versions of Love Yourself: Tear finally arrived. Yes, my pre-order. As in, I ordered these on April 18 from the BTS Official Shop  — the day they started pre-orders — and they didn't arrive until today. Note that Love Yourself: Tear was officially released on May 18. May 18! Don't get me wrong, I've been listening to the album through Apple Music, but it's kind of ridiculous that my physical copies didn't arrive until well over a month after its release date. (If you're wondering why I still order physical copies of an album when I listen to it through Apple Music anyway, it's because I am a BTS multimedia collector and BTS' physical albums are beautifully made with gorgeous photobooks, photocards, and posters.) It's even more ridiculous because I pre-ordered them; unlike Amazon, the BTS Official Shop charges you in full when they receive your order, not when they ship it out. So having paid in full already, there was just no reason for them to have taken so long to get the albums shipped (my purchase order status was at "Awaiting Shipment" for over a month). Shipping was crazy expensive, too — the most I've ever spent on shipping from South Korea. Ridiculous, since I've received many packages through Korea Post EMS and I usually pay half the amount for shipping the same amount of weight.

Each album was also supposed to come with a larger "special" photocard on top of the regular photocard and standing photo that come tucked inside the photobook; I was supposed to get four and didn't receive any. (I did, however, get four of the "BTS Official Shop Special Gift," which turned out to be a mini screen cleaner. I would much rather have gotten the photocards.) I am taking some comfort in the fact that this seemed to have happened to just about everybody who ordered from the BTS Official Shop (on top of their pre-orders arriving over a month late, some people are actually missing many components of their orders). I did, however, receive all the correct posters (each version of the album comes with a corresponding A2 poster), and one thing that I really appreciated was that they came rolled up in a canister so they don't have hard folds. (Most other e-retailers send folded versions of the posters which totally ruins the integrity of the image.) But, still, I learned my lesson. I won't order through the BTS Official Shop again. Not when people who pre-ordered from every other e-commerce site got their shipments on time (or earlier — Amazon accidentally shipped their album pre-orders out a day early).
