The Tastitint Lip Conditioner is a new product that MAC created for this holiday set, and the idea of a set of tinted lip balms with different scents and flavours actually excited me at first. Since MAC discontinued their tubs of Tinted Lip Conditioner, I've been waiting for their "replacement" product. The Suntints Liquid Lip Balms and Mineralize Tinted Lip Balms were more like glosses than true lip hydrators, so I wanted to see how these differed. Of course, the obvious would be the scents and flavours. I'm sort of indifferent to these, as I actually like MAC's regular vanilla-scented lip products — the only scent I don't really like from these is Sugared Vanilla, because it's almost sickly sweet, but thankfully, it's not very strong in either scent or taste.
I'm glad to report that the formula of these is pretty much identical to MAC's Lip Conditioner Tube. That means these are slick and smooth, non-sticky with a soft shine, and actually fairly hydrating when worn on a regular basis with lingering moisture throughout the day. They offer relief to dry lips, but they don't repair cracked lips. The problem I have with these is actually in the tints. MAC has described these as "barely there shades," but if you're going to offer a set of four different tinted lip balms, they should actually show up tinted, no? All four of these go on clear and thusly look identical on the lips, so really, you'd be getting these more so for the scent and flavour than anything else. That having been said, these are great for both girls and guys, for those who don't really like wearing lip colour or need a hydrating layering product, and perhaps those who just really love lip balm.
Yeah, it's too bad they aren't more tinted. I'd be more tempted then.
ReplyDeleteI guess I would compare it to those EOS lip balm sphere sets, you know? They're all colourless but they have different scents and flavours... Of course, those spheres are goddamn cute as hell, but I think they actually hydrate about the same. :P
DeleteUm yea, these are all basically clear. There is no way I'd ever shell out the cash for this set! What was MAC thinking? Boo :(
ReplyDeleteI guess it's like those multipacks of EOS or Burt's Bees lip balms, so you'd buy these more for the scents and flavours than anything else. I think these are better as gifts than as something you'd get for yourself, especially if you're buying something for someone whose tastes you're unsure about. Like moms buying stocking stuffers for their tween daughters, lol.
