This week's Friday Five:
- What's something you were unreasonably forbidden from doing when you were a kid? Wear make-up and nail polish. Partly because of my ridiculously conservative school and partly because of my parents. But I was pretty much forbidden until my teens. Explains a lot now, doesn't it?
- In what area of your life would you say you have especially conservative boundaries? Fashion — I'm not a huge risk-taker in terms of trends, and I don't show a lot of skin (you would never find me in a bikini). And most of my clothing is black. I always think of clothing in terms of cost per use, and I think trendy pieces tend to be a waste of money. (Ironically, there's very few make-up shades or products I wouldn't try.)
- In what area of your life would you say you have especially permissive boundaries? Spending money.
- In what area of your life do you routinely go over the line? See above! I shop way too much.
- How many keys do you have on your key ring? Four — front door key, storm door key, car key, mail box key.
Q1 just makes me mad because I was forbidden basically everything! Damn strict Asian parents.
ReplyDeleteNow, did you wear black even before you started working at MAC? I think most of my 20s was spent in a black phase. It seemed cooler.
I know, right? I think that plays a huge part of why I'm so obsessed with make-up and nail polish now. I'm making up for the lean years. :P
DeleteYeah, I pretty much wore black or navy from middle school until... now. I wear black mostly for work reasons, but it's also because it enables to wear pretty much any colour on my face, lol.
