MAC Reel Sexy: Cremesheen Glasses

MAC released a new collection yesterday called Reel Sexy. This collection is this month's "main launch," and features 23 products — 14 of which are new and limited edition, 6 of which are re-promoted and limited edition, one of which is re-promoted and will be added to the permanent line, and two of which are permanent. Reel Sexy sees the release of four shades of Cremesheen Glass. Cremesheen Glasses are creamy, shiny, non-sticky, and are vanilla-scented and taste-free. They're generally a more sheer formula of lip gloss, making them ideal for layering. As a result of a less tacky formula, they have a shorter wear time, but they are incredibly comfortable to wear. Each Cremesheen Glass comes in regular black packaging with a doe-foot applicator, contains a total of 2.7 grams of product, and retails for $22.50.

Cinestyle, Private Screening, Star Quality, and Colour Saturation

Cinestyle is a pale blue-toned milky lilac. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has sheer pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. When worn alone, it does settle into lip lines, so this is more ideal for layering on top of another lip product. There is nothing similar to this in MAC's permanent range; it is much more blue than Fashion Scoop.

Private Screening is a light milky pink-peach. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has medium pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. When worn alone, it does settle into lip lines a little bit, but it's not noticeable unless you're really up close. It is a bit more pink than Boy Bait, and darker and more pink than Fashion Whim.

Star Quality is a medium bright pinked coral. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. It has more orange tones than Double Dare.

Colour Saturation is a medium-dark pinked berry. This is a new and limited edition shade. It goes on smoothly and evenly, and has high pigmentation and nearly opaque colour pay-off. It is more purple than Pop Mode Lipglass, and darker than Star Nova Lustreglass.

I personally love the Cremesheen Glass formula. It has a relatively short wear time (about two hours) and it's expensive for the amount you get (the tubes are deceiving, because there's actually less product in these than in a regular Lipglass), but I feel like the pros outweigh the cons — it's non-sticky, feels comfortable on the lips, goes on smooth and creamy, and keeps lips feeling moist and slick. Colour Saturation is gorgeous if you like a bold berry lip, though it seems more like a Fall/Winter colour to me. Private Screening is nice if you like really neutral lips, but it's similar to a lot of shades from MAC. Cinestyle looks tricky to use, but it goes on really sheer and doesn't take on that blue/lilac tone on lips; it really just lightens up or mutes lip colour. If you have a lip colour that you won't wear because it's too bright or dark, Cinestyle would be ideal to use to soften or lighten the colour. My must-have from this collection is definitely Star Quality, which is just such a gorgeous shade for Spring and Summer, and looks amazing on its own and over lipsticks.
