Nothing like some delectably spicy food to warm you up on a cold day, so Ronsee and I went for dinner at the aptly-named Xin Jiang Restaurant:
Xinjiang-style BBQ chicken cartilage
Xinjiang-style BBQ lamb and beef skewers
Stir-fried minced lamb with Chinese pancakes
Stir-fried lamb with naan
Since Xinjiang-style food is predominantly spiced with cumin, the flavours do end up melding together across all dishes, but I don't mind because IT'S FREAKING DELICIOUS. You can never go wrong with the meat skewers, of course, but the most surprisingly tasty dish of the night was the stir-fried lamb with naan — Ronsee and I both thought that the naan would be served on the side of the lamb, but it's actually diced, fried, and tossed in with the rest of the ingredients and it's ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL.
Also noticed that this restaurant has the same menu as Magical Taste of China and realized they're sister restaurants. So I guess they've cornered the market on Xinjiang cuisine.
