Unboxing: Jimin — FACE Complete Album Set (All Versions)

Okay, this post is going up quite late because I was in Seoul when my FACE albums got delivered and I just got around to picking them up from my friend Iris. But better late than never, right?

FACE is Jimin's debut studio album as a solo artist. It was globally released on March 24, 2023, at all music retailers both online and in-store. FACE is "primarily a pop, hip hop, and R&B record... Comprising of five songs, all co-written by Jimin, and one instrumental, the album was heavily inspired by the emotional impact of the pandemic on Jimin as a person and performer and addresses 'themes of loneliness, wrestling with oneself, and finding freedom.' Two singles were released in support of FACE: the pre-release single, 'Set Me Free Pt. 2,' and its accompanying music video preceded the album on March 17, while the main single, 'Like Crazy,' and its music video premiered simultaneously with the album's release."

The complete set for FACE includes all versions of the album — Undefinable Face, Invisible Face, and Weverse Albums — and is exclusive to Weverse Shop. All versions are also available individually; both Undefinable Face and Invisible Face can be found at all major online and in-store retailers and is available as a duo on Weverse Shop, whereas the Weverse Albums version is only available on Weverse Shop. The complete set retails for $45.52 USD or ₩49,000 on Weverse Shop Global. Note that the set is the cost of the full versions ($17.18 USD x 2) and Weverse Albums version ($11.14 USD) together, so you do not save any money by buying the set as opposed to each version separately.

Both Undefinable Face and Invisible Face editions of FACE feature a soft cover photobook as the main packaging of the album. (Note that there is no outer box for these.) They both measure 17 cm W x 24 cm L. The photobook for Undefinable Face has 80 pages, whereas the one for Invisible Face has 76 pages, but they both include the lyrics for all the tracks on the album. They both have reflective covers, but Undefinable Face is a darker silver with peach text, and Invisible Face is a lighter silver with white text. Both of these editions include the same items but feature different colour schemes and photo shoots. Undefinable Face features the Hardware concept photos and Invisible Face features the Software concept photos. They both include the CD in an envelope, a large postcard, a regular postcard, and a total of 4 photocards (one of which is randomized out of 3 types) — all of which are slipped inside the pages of the corresponding photobook.

Note that on the physical album, "Like Crazy (English Version)" is a 10-minute long track that includes 2 minutes and 45 seconds of empty space after the song's end followed by the hidden track "Letter," which begins at the 6:13 mark and features background vocals by Jungkook.

The Weverse Albums version of FACE is packaged in a light silver sliding card stock box, which measures 13.2 cm W x 9.2 cm L x 1.6 cm D. When you slide the box open, you will find a sheet of printed parchment paper that is wrapped around all the contents: a photo booklet which features both the Hardware and Software concept photos, a Weverse Albums QR postcard, a randomized photocard (out of 2 types), a booklet of Jimin's writing notes, and an accordion-folded lyrics sheet.

And finally, because I had pre-ordered the complete set from Weverse Shop during the early bird period, I also got all the special gifts: one unreleased holographic selfie photocard, one unreleased photocard (random 1 out of 2), one set of plastic photocard frame stands, and one photocard L-holder (not pictured).

Anyway, this album broke so many goddamn records, I don't even need to tell you how good it is.

You might be wondering why the hell I ordered all the albums through Weverse Shop and paid an arm and a leg for shipping when I was literally in Seoul at the end of March and could've just bought the albums for cheaper with no shipping costs. Frankly, I would've had no room in my suitcase. (In fact, I ended up having to buy a 2nd suitcase in Japan just for all the shit I bought, and that one was also packed to the brim, even with the expander.) Plus, the Weverse Albums version is only available through Weverse Shop, and you know I must have all versions of any BTS album... And, pre-order gifts, obviously.
