Unboxing: Agust D — D-DAY Complete Album Set (All Versions)

D-DAY is Suga's debut studio album under the artist name Agust D. (Note that Agust D has released two full-length mixtapes before this album as free downloads.) It was globally released on April 21, 2023, at all music retailers both online and in-store. D-DAY is "the third installment in a trilogy of works that includes the mixtapes Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020)... Two singles were released in promotion of the project: 'People Pt. 2' featuring IU on April 7, and 'Haegeum,' which premiered alongside the album. Music videos accompanied both singles, with a third released for the track 'Amygdala' on April 24."

The complete set for D-DAY includes all versions of the album — Version 01, Version 02, and Weverse Albums — and is exclusive to Weverse Shop. All versions are also available individually; both Version 01 and Version 02 can be found at all major online and in-store retailers and is available as a duo on Weverse Shop, whereas the Weverse Albums version is only available on Weverse Shop. The complete set retails for $45.52 USD or ₩49,000 on Weverse Shop Global. Note that the set is the cost of the full versions ($17.18 USD x 2) and Weverse Albums version ($11.14 USD) together, so you do not save any money by buying the set as opposed to each version separately.

The colour scheme is a dark charcoal grey for Version 02, and a dark cool brown for Version 02. Both Version 01 and Version 02 of D-DAY feature a sliding outer box, and measure approximately 13.5 cm W x 21.5 cm L. Both versions include the same items in different colour schemes with slightly differing artwork. Both photobooks have soft covers, contain 100 pages, and feature abstract silhouettes of Agust D. They both contain photos taken from the "Haegeum" and "Amygdala" music video sets — Version 01 features "past Agust D" from "Haegeum" and "past Yoongi" from "Amygdala," and Version 02 features "present Agust D" from "Haegeum" and "present Yoongi" from "Amygdala." Aside from the photobook, each version includes two photocards (one is randomized out of 2 types), a postcard, a "scanimation" card, a lyrics book, a sheet of stickers, the CD in a cardboard holder, and a folded poster.

D-DAY is "filled with 'thought-provoking social commentary and personal reflections" and "addresses themes of liberation… and freedom. [Agust D] ruminates on the meaning of both, whether they are 'a blessing or a curse,' and 'encourages listeners to concentrate on focusing inward, instead of looking to the past at regrets or at the future with fear.' Musically, the album features a diverse range of sounds and genres, including boom bap, 'coats of Auto-Tune,' alternative rock, and a piano sample from Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto."

The Weverse Albums version of D-DAY is packaged in a dark charcoal grey folded card stock box, which measures 13.3 cm W x 9.2 cm L x 1.6 cm D. When you unfold the box, you will find a photo flip book, a photocard (randomized out of 2 types), the Weverse Albums QR code postcard, a postcard, and a folded lyrics poster. The photo flip book includes a mix of photos taken on the "Haegeum" and "Amygdala" music video sets.

Not a single skippable track for me on this album (not even the interlude, which is a gorgeous piece of cinematic music). I've been playing it on repeat since its release last Friday and just fall more and more in love with each track. I also finished watching SUGA: Road to D-DAY and I just gotta say, Yoongi's hard work, struggles, and persistence were all worth it because D-DAY is a triumph. I can't even tell you the amount of FOMO I am experiencing right now because I can't see him live on tour.
