In honour of Jungkook's birthday celebration yesterday as well as the Labour Day long weekend, Ying and I actually went to visit The Social Blend in person for the first time. I normally order their Korean-style macarons online and get them delivered, but since we were out already, we decided to check out their actual store — mostly because their new September flavours are out now, but also because Ying had never tried their macarons and we agreed that it was a travesty. We actually got there pretty late in the afternoon so there weren't a lot left, but I was lucky to be able to get one of each of their September flavours — Mocha Brownie (the last one!), Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake, and Maple Pecan. I added an Injeolmi macaron (the only signature flavour I haven't tried yet) to complete a box of five.

While I was there, I also picked up a box of their Korean-style dacquoise — a light almond meringue biscuit filled with buttercream. They're actually fairly similar to the macaron in the type of ingredients they use, but the meringue cookie is made differently, so aside from having a different size and shape, the consistency of a dacquoise is lighter and airier, and the texture is more "rustic" and crumbly. The Social Blend came out with these a few months ago and I've wanted to try them since but I always ended up opting for a box of nine macarons for the free shipping. But for the same price, I decided to split the cost between a box of five macarons and a box of three dacquoise this time around, so I picked Matcha, Coffee, and Raspberry. There were only a couple of each of these flavours left (the other three were sold out already), so it seems like they're getting as popular as their macarons.

I will eat these all week in honour of Jungkook, obviously.
