In case you're wondering, yes, I did go to Walmart to buy another four copies of Map of the Soul: 7 (one of each version, of course) while waiting for my Map of the Soul: 7 set to ship from Seoul. Weply, which is run by BigHit (BTS' label), is still the only retailer that sells the albums in a full set with all versions included. The albums also come with posters, and Weply is the only retailer that delivers them rolled in tubes instead of folded (WHY WOULD YOU FOLD POSTERS?). Plus, they offer an exclusive pre-order gift that no other retailer does. Unfortunately, they don't start shipping until after the day of release, so my BTS albums always arrive at least a week after the release date. Which is, you know, anti-climactic. 'Cause, bitch, we been waitin' months for this album to be released.
So, yeah, I bought doubles of the album. Firstly, I'm impatient. Not for the music, because I've already bought every track on iTunes and am also diligently streaming the songs on Apple Music (this is just how ARMYs operate, people), but for the physical album and its contents. Which leads me to my secondexcuse reason: the packaging for Map of the Soul: 7 is the prettiest and the grandest out of all of their albums, which is really saying something since all of their albums have been gorgeous. (Also, these albums are so big that Walmart could not fit them on their CD shelves, and had to display them separately on their book table.) Thirdly, the photobooks are in a loose sheet format this time (so that you can actually take out the photos — or in this case, mini posters — and display them), so I obviously need two copies of each version so I can keep one totally intact and the other one to separate and frame. Fourth, ordering BTS albums from Korea only helps them out on the Korean music charts, whereas buying them here helps them out on the Canadian Billboard charts (which is important, so they know that there's a demand for them here).
That was all just to say that, yes, I know I'm crazy.
