So, ARMYPEDIA launched yesterday. For those who don't know, ARMYPEDIA was started by BigHit as a sort of BTS version of Pokémon GO, except instead of catching Pokémon, we have to find QR codes that are hidden all around the world both offline and online. Each QR code corresponds to a date from June 13, 2013 (BTS' debut date) to February 21, 2019, so there are 2,080 QR codes to find in total. Each date contains a BTS memory, so that when ARMYPEDIA is complete (e.g. when all the codes are found and the dates are unlocked), it will essentially serve as an archive for BTS history. There were seven billboard "teasers" found in seven different cities all around the world — Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York, and Los Angeles — to kick us off, and now ARMYs are finding them everywhere, from subway stations to random vending carts. Online, all official BTS-related social media accounts have codes randomly uploaded, may it be Twitter layouts, Twitter posts, Instagram Stories, or even thumbnails of their YouTube videos on their official account. The codes are all temporary and will change randomly, whether hourly or daily, so you gotta scan them the moment you see them.
There have been no physical codes found anywhere in Canada, so I can only assume they're only going to be found in the same seven cities that the teasers were located, but I've been having fun finding all the online codes and photos of the ones people have found in real life. Each code also has a quiz to answer, for which you get 50 points. (I've scanned 190 codes now.) It's an incredibly unique and imaginative project that only BTS — with the world's largest active fanbase — can achieve and execute successfully. What a cool way to bring fans together, no?
