As neither my mom nor I cook Christmas dinner at home, we decided to make reservations for the Christmas dinner buffet at Hilton Suites this year. It was actually a packed house tonight, so I can only come to the conclusion that a lot of people hate cooking Christmas dinner. The assortment of food looked quite impressive when I read the online menu, but it was somewhat lacking in execution. Maybe because it's a buffet and they just weren't turning over the food fast enough, but it didn't actually seem like there was a lot of choice. A lot of the heating pans were more than half-empty, so they didn't look enticing. (Like the oyster platter, which only had two raw oysters left on it. I wasn't gonna touch that shit, you know?) The quality of food was okay, but the "hot" food just wasn't hot enough and was actually totally cold by the time we brought it back to our table. Overall, a pretty disappointing Christmas dinner, especially for the price ($62 a person!). And the servers just looked miserable. Honestly, we would've been better off going to the Mandarin. Hope y'all had a better Christmas dinner than we did.
