This week's Monday Poll:
- Walk me through your everyday concealer process. After I prime my skin (MAC's original Face Protect SPF 50 on my T-zone because it keeps me matte longer and MAC's Natural Radiance or Laura Mercier's Foundation Primer Oil-Free on the rest of my face), I use NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger on the tops of my cheeks where I have some redness and freckles, and a bit under my eyes (I don't really have dark circles, but I like looking fresh). Then I use my Hakuhodo J527G flat-top brush to buff MAC Studio Fix Powder in NC35 all over my face. And finally, I dust a light layer of MAC Blot Powder in Medium Dark under my eyes (to keep mascara from smudging) and my T-zone (to keep me matte).
- Would you rather carry a designer bag or wear a pair of designer shoes? Designer bag. I treat my shoes like shit, so I can't be trusted with really expensive pairs. I have a pair of Tory Burch flats that I bought a couple years ago and they seriously look like crap now (and I had to get the soles replaced twice). Designer bags, on the other hand, tend to look the same, if not better, with age, so I feel like they're a much better investment.
- What are your five favourite stores right now? Sephora (always), Aritzia, Hudson's Bay, Wal-Mart, and Loblaws.
- What was your favourite movie when you were a kid? Clueless. It's still one of my favourites!
- Do you think you're more book smart or people smart? Between the two, I'd have to go with people smart. I'm a fast learner and understand concepts and theories efficiently, but was always an average student because I just didn't like academia. The subjects I excelled in (in both high school and university) were always applied/practical ones (e.g. visual arts, design, computer sciences, marketing). On that note, I've worked in a retail/customer service environment for over a decade, and five years as a professional make-up artist, so aside from being personable (and charming!), I am also good at reading people and understanding their behaviours.
i agree on designer bags, though i definitely started buying pricier shoes much sooner than bags lol. but not like super pricey shoes... i've killed many a pair of coach flats and am on my way to killing some cole haans lol. I agree on clueless, and aritzia and sephora are my favorite places to shop also... With nordstrom and lululemon as my other favorites :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so terrible with shoes that I'm scared to spend a lot of money on them! I bought a pair of Ash boots for winter last year that were half-price (so they were around $220) and I am trying to be so careful with them even though it defeats the purpose of buying biker boots, LOL. I don't mind spending more money on bags, but I haven't bought like super-expensive designer bags, more like Marc by Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Minkoff. I treat those like crap, too, but they always manage to look good, lol.
DeleteI haven't actually shopped at Nordstrom, though there will be two locations opening in Toronto! Definitely curious to see what they're like, 'cause a lot of people say they're better than the department stores we have here now.
I thought you didn't like the reformulated P&P SPF50? Is it still worth getting?
ReplyDeleteI don't like the re-formulated version! I stockpiled on the old formula, lol. BUTTTT that having been said, you might like the newer formula. It's more lightweight and there is more hydration to it. It just doesn't keep you matte. At all. That's the only thing I don't like about it. Maybe get a sample of it to see if you like it first!
