This week's Friday Five:
- What's something most people just don't take seriously enough? Drunk driving.
- What's something most people take too seriously? The credibility of YouTube "beauty gurus."
- What kind of serious business are you up to today? Coaching one of my staff for her first make-up application certification.
- When did you last get the giggles at a time when you were expected to be serious? During Fifty Shades of Grey.
- What are some foods you think of as serious, and what are some you think of as funny? I don't know if I've ever considered food to be serious, but I guess foie gras? And I think crabs (as in crustaceans) and black truffles are pretty funny.
oh yes.. drunk driving. like someone my age still does it. and i /seriously/ can't believe it. i'm like...dude...how dumb are you... i'm not friends with them but when i hear about their behaviour...
ReplyDeleteoh god. empires have been built on the 'guru-ness' of beauty you tubers...
i think i snorted at a few moments when watching 50shades. just couldn't take it seriously.
Yeah, sadly, I know too many people who still drink and drive. I don't go out with them anymore, partly because I don't drink and just don't find it fun to go to bars, but mostly because I just can't witness such stupid behaviour. I have no patience for that shit.
DeleteI know. There are a legit few makeup artists on YouTube who know what they're doing but then there are some that I question why people put so much trust in. People have to realize the difference between makeup artists and makeup enthusiasts. I think it bothers me more because I have people requesting certain looks and specific products used by YouTubers and I'm like, "You realize that you're about six shades darker than that YouTuber, right? If I use that product, it will look like paste on you."
I didn't mind 50 Shades as entertainment, and I thought the movie was a good adaptation of the book (maybe even better because it's less repetitive; there's only so many times you can use the word "heady"), but I don't think the franchise as a whole is meant to be taken seriously, lol.
