MAC In Extra Dimension (2013): Extra Dimension Blush in Bareness, At Dusk, Flaming Chic, Fiery Impact, and Blazing Haute

Last Thursday, MAC released a new collection called In Extra Dimension, featuring "MAC's modern hybrid make-up that combines the smoothness of a cream, the blendability of a liquid, and the finish of a powder with long-wearing colour and prismatic reflections." This collection sees the release of 16 products —14 of which are new and limited edition, and two of which are re-promotes. In Extra Dimension includes five new and limited edition shades of Extra Dimension Blush, which "delivers polished textures that reflect light and leave a smooth, second-skin finish." They feature a wave design embossed on the surface with the MAC logo imprinted around it. Each Extra Dimension Blush comes in regular black packaging, contains 6.5 grams of product, and retails for $29.50.

Clockwise (from bottom): Bareness, At Dusk, Flaming Chic, Fiery Impact, and Blazing Haute

Bareness, At Dusk, Flaming Chic, Fiery Impact, and Blazing Haute

Bareness is a light warm pinked beige with a soft sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has low-medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker than Tenderling, and darker and more pinked than Baby Don't Go Pro Longwear Blush.
At Dusk is a light-medium neutral rose pink with a soft golden shimmer-sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque to opaque buildable colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker than Well Dressed, and lighter and warmer than Stay Pretty Pro Longwear Blush.
Flaming Chic is a medium brightened watermelon pink with a soft sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is less reddened than Dollymix, and lighter and warmer than Whole Lotta Love Pro Longwear Blush.
Fiery Impact is a medium-dark burnt orange with red undertones and a soft sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is less bronze than Ambering Rose, and more reddened than Pinch Me.
Blazing Haute is a light-medium brightened peachy orange with a soft golden shimmer-sheen in a Satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more orange than Melba, darker and brighter then Peaches, and less pink than Style.

I've always been a fan of the Extra Dimension formula in the Skinfinishes and Eyeshadows that have been released previously. The blushes are a new addition to the Extra Dimension family, and I was pleased to find that they have the same super-silky, finely-milled, and ultra-smooth texture that we've come to expect from the Extra Dimension formula, but without the intense metallic finish that is associated with it. Because Bareness and At Dusk are lighter shades, they will show up best on fair to light-medium skintones; they will need to be layered to show up on medium to medium-dark skintones, and will be more suited as highlighting shades for darker skintones. Flaming Chic and Fiery Impact can go on quite bright, but they buff out very easily, so they can suit all skintones. All five shades have a beautiful satin finish that leaves a nice illuminated glow on the skin without being shiny or shimmery.

  1. BLUSSSSSHHHHHHHH!

Fiery Impact is gorgeous. Does it kind of look like a slightly shimmery lighter version of Tarte Natural Beauty?? It's too bad these aren't permanent.

    1. YESSSSS BLUSSSHHH!!!! LOVE!

Natural Beauty is much more pink -- it's actually more comparable to Flaming Chic than Fiery Impact!

I wish these were permanent, too. I prefer them much more than the Pro Longwear Blushes. :/

  2. I was sorely tempted to pick one of these up, either Fiery Impact or Flaming Chic, but resisted because I'm sort of maxxed out on blushes right now. I'm getting anxious just thinking about how I'm ever going to use them all!!! It won't last, but in this moment I'm going to roll with it, because while gorgeous, there's always something new around the corner for when I'm 'back in the game' :P

    1. Fair enough, lol. I SHOULD have that mentality, of being able to be "maxed out" on make-up, but I never do. LE SIGH. I am always tempted, and I always give in to my temptation. Some people have shoes, some people have purses, and I have make-up. :P

I think Fiery Impact and Flaming Chic were sold out in, like, an hour online. It was ridiculous. If you do change your mind, though, and your local counter still has these in stock, definitely pick one up -- the formula is beautiful. ;)
