Shawn and I spent our last afternoon in New York at the MoMA. For those who have never visited, it's definitely a must-see in New York. It has six floors of modern art, so it'll pretty much take up your entire day, but it's worth it. My favourites were probably the pop art pieces (Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, etc.):
Here are some other highlights:
I also took a picture of this piece that just creeped me right out:
And, of course, there were many that made me wonder how they got into a museum:
I THOUGHT I'd been to the MoMA (because I definitely remember buying things at the gift shop) but after seeing your pics of the exhibits, I don't think I have. Can you JUST go to the gift shop? Weird.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if those last couple of pics are MoMA-worthy, I'd like to nominate some of my neighbours' pieces of "art" for the museum. Haha WTF!
LOL, yes, they do have a few gift shop locations. I've totally been to the one in Soho, lol.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how the board of the museum people actually decide what "pieces of art" get to be displayed in there. Like, did they see a painting with a solid background and a single line drawn through it and think, "Wow. That was ridiculous, and just so thought-provoking..." I DON'T GET IT.
