Congee Queen

Shawn, Hannan, and I went for a late dinner at Congee Queen. I decided to try something different and got the sliced beef with black bean sauce on rice. And, honestly, I was kind of disappointed. This might be the first time I've ordered something that I wasn't completely satisfied with at Congee Queen. It wasn't the beef or the veggies or the rice, but the most vital part of this dish: the black bean sauce. There just wasn't enough flavour, like it was watered down. And, I'm sorry, the whole point of ordering black bean sauce is for that distinct, super salty, slightly spicy, kind of garlicky flavour. It's supposed to be strong. Almost pungent. And this dish just didn't have it. I should really stick to what I usually get there: noodles. Stir-fried or in soup, they never disappoint, especially at Congee Queen. (Ironically, I rarely ever get congee there.)
