Decided on traditional Beijing cuisine at Empire City Roasted Duck for dinner, which, of course, starts with Peking duck:
Peking duck
Steamed pork dumplings with supreme soup
Pottage with shredded duck meat and conpoy
Stir-fried shrimp with black garlic
Stewed green beans with spicy minced pork
This was probably the best Peking duck I've ever had, actually, with paper thin wraps, scallions, radish, cucumber, and, unexpectedly, crisp cantaloupe (which, as it turns out, pairs incredibly well with duck). We had opted for the tasting dinner for two, which also included (truly excellent) steamed pork soup dumplings, pottage with shredded duck meat and conpoy, stir-fried shrimp with black garlic, stewed green beans with spicy minced pork, and rolled rice cake with red bean paste for dessert. With the addition of a couple soft drinks and 10% service fee, it came to just under $900 HKD or $155 CAD, which does make it on the pricier side, but we thought the quality of the food and service was worth it. I wouldn't necessarily come here for the tasting dinner, but it's definitely worth visiting for the Peking duck.
