(Warning: This post is long and photo-heavy.)
My set of RM's Indigo has arrived!
Indigo is RM's debut studio album as a solo artist. (Note that RM has released solo mixtapes before, but because they were released as free projects, we are not counting them as official studio albums by RM as a solo artist.) It was globally released on December 2, 2022, at all music retailers both online and in-store. This album marks RM's first full-length body of work since his 2018 mixtape, Mono. The set for Indigo includes both the Book Edition and Postcard Edition and is exclusive to Weverse Shop. Both editions are also available individually; the Book Edition can be found at all major online and in-store retailers, whereas the Postcard Edition is only available on Weverse Shop. The set retails for $27.68 USD or ₩29,800 on Weverse Shop Global. Note that the set is the cost of the Book ($16.53 USD) and Postcard ($11.15 USD) Editions together, so you do not save any money by buying the set as opposed to each version separately.

The Book Edition of Indigo, also known as the CD version, is packaged in a rectangular white cardboard box with black writing. The outer box measures 17.6 cm W x 24.6 cm H x 2.1 cm D. The first thing you'll find when you open up the outer box is a white square envelope. The envelope itself has the title of the album on one side, and the tracklist listed on the other side. Inside the envelope is the CD, an instant photo, a randomized RM photocard (1 of 3 versions), and a fabric card. The tracklist of Indigo is as follows:
- Yun (with Erykah Badu)
- Still Life (with Anderson .Paak)
- All Day (with TABLO)
- Forg_tful (with Kim Sawol)
- Closer (with Paul Blanco & Mahalia)
- Change pt. 2
- Lonely
- Hectic (with Colde)
- Wild Flower (with Yoojeen)
- No. 2 (with Park Jiyoon)
The box also contains one artwork postcard (1 version out of 2) and one mini poster.
The Book Edition includes a 100-page glossy soft cover book which includes photos of RM, exclusive indigo-coloured artwork, lyrics for all 10 songs, and credits.
The Postcard Edition of Indigo, also known as the Weverse Albums version, is packaged in a rectangular white card stock box, which measures 9.2 cm W x 13.3 cm H x 1.6 cm D. Inside this box, you will find one instant photo, one randomized photocard (1 of 2 versions), and 30 different postcards.
10 of the postcards feature photo of random subjects (denim jeans, a flower, fireworks, etc.), and each of these postcards feature one track off the album (one track per card). The next 10 postcards feature the same indigo-coloured artwork as found in the Book Edition's book with the title of the artwork on the back. The last 10 postcards also feature the same indigo-coloured artwork as the previous 10 postcards along with the artwork information beside it. On the back of these postcards, there is black text that says, "The last archive of my twenties."
As the Postcard Edition is also the Weverse Albums version, you will find a card with a QR code that will lead to the Weverse Albums app (available on Apple Store and Google Play Store), on which you can add and download the album. From there, you can listen to all the tracks on the album and also view a digital version of your photocard as well as digital photos from the album jacket photo shoot. (There is a user guide included in the box in case you don't know how to use the Weverse Albums app.) Finally, the Postcard Edition includes a stapled lyric booklet. It is printed in black and white, and has artwork interspersed between the lyric pages.
Because I ordered the Indigo set from Weverse Shop, I also received the pre-order gifts: an unreleased photocard with photocard L-holder for the Book Edition, a postcard frame for the Postcard Edition, and a folded poster for the Set.
The packaging for Indigo's physical albums, from the design to the colours to the artwork, is simplicity at its best and makes for a beautiful juxtaposition against the complexity of RM's music. I've been listening to Indigo — 10 tracks showcasing completely different genres, subjects, and emotions — on repeat since it was released just over a week ago, and I can sincerely say that this album is a triumph.
