My BTS "Butter" Single CD Set arrived several days ago! The set includes both versions of the single CD album, Peaches and Cream. Each version is available for purchase separately as well at all major music retailers, both online and physically. The set retails for ₩35,600 (approximately $40 CAD or $32 USD); each version is ₩17,800 on its own (approximately $20 CAD or $16 USD). You don't actually save any money by buying the set, but each version comes with its own unique (read: SEXY AF) concept photos, so you might want to get the set, anyway. I bought my set on Weverse Shop, so these are the prices that are officially set by BigHit. (Prices will vary depending on retailer and country due to import fees.) This post will be the unboxing for the Peaches version of the "Butter" Single CD.
The BTS "Butter" Single CD comes in two versions: Peaches and Cream. Both versions of the BTS "Butter" Single CD feature two songs: "Butter" and "Permission to Dance." Both of these versions come in canvas out boxes, and feature the same physical contents: one photobook, two lyric cards (one for each song), one group instant photo, a photo stand, a randomized member folded message card, a randomized member photocard, a sheet of graphic stickers, and the CD. The Peaches version is coloured in a bright orange. Now, the main difference in the two versions, aside from the colour scheme, is actually in the concept photos.
So the first concept photoshoot for the Peaches version is the car wash. It is a fairly simple concept: look almost indecently sexy while pretending to wash cars. (Jimin, I'm looking at you. You're practically naked.) And it is a very, very effective concept. In fact, you may never have had a car wash fantasy until now because no one should ever look that hot while manually washing cars. But indeed, BTS made that wet T-shirt dream come to life and we will forever be grateful for it.
The second concept photoshoot for the Peaches version is the beach. Again, the concept is pretty simple: look sexy and moody at the beach. You'd think the beach would give more opportunities for BTS to show a little more skin or wet a little more T-shirt than the car wash concept. I mean, frankly, if you ask me, they're a little overdressed for the beach, but apparently this shoot was taken when it was still cold, so I guess it's forgivable. But just putting this out there, I would've been fine with a heated swimming pool concept, too...
Inside the box, there are also a bunch of extra goodies, as expected from a BTS album. (Yes, even a single CD. They make sure that you get what you pay for!) In the Peaches version, you get a photo stand featuring the beach concept, a randomized member folded message card featuring the beach concept (I got Jin for this one, but sadly, I can't read Korean so I don't know what his message says), the requisite randomized member photocard (I got J-Hope from the beach concept), a group instant photo featuring the beach concept (this instant photo is the same across both versions), two lyric cards (one each for "Butter" and "Permission to Dance"), a graphic sticker sheet to decorate the box (I've seen some beautiful artwork that ARMYs have done to the boxes, but I personally refuse to deface my albums for fear of the utter regret I would have in the future), the CD (you almost forget that this is the whole point of the album), and a full-size poster featuring the beach concept (unfortunately, this comes with first press orders only).
Do you see now how difficult it is to choose between the Peaches and Cream versions? This is exactly how they get you. They make sure that you'll get FOMO if you only get one version, thus you must resign to spending double the amount of money on both. Well played, Big Hit, well played.
(Also, CONGRATULATIONS to BTS for "Permission to Dance" taking the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 from "Butter" this week!!! This is their 5th No. 1 debut on the Hot 100 in the last 10 months!)
