Attempt #2 at getting The BTS Meal: SUCCESS! Got to the McDonald's drive-thru after work with Ying tonight. It was just past midnight, and let me tell you, it's the perfect time to go. No line-ups and all your food is made fresh to order. Of course, the girl working tonight sounded like she wanted to cry after we ordered five BTS Meals. ("You want five?" "Yes, five.") You know, two for me, two for Ying, and one for her husband. (Listen, it's not like I was gonna eat 20 McNuggets all at once. One for now, one for later... Plus, I haven't eaten 20 McNuggets in one go in over 15 years... when I was a pothead...) We had to make up for the severe disappointment last night.

The BTS Meal is essentially the 10-piece Chicken McNugget combo. So what's so special about The BTS Meal, you ask? Well, the purple packaging, obviously, with the BTS logo. (Apparently, most of the U.S. didn't get any of the purple packaging, and certain locations in Canada only got some of the packaging; I would've been PISSED to order The BTS Meal and not even get the BTS packaging.) And the two limited edition dipping sauces: Sweet Chili and Cajun. These are actually regular flavours in Asia so it's probably not as exciting over there, but they're novelties here, which is a DAMN SHAME because THEY ARE DELICIOUS and are WAY BETTER than Sweet & Sour and Barbecue. (YEAH, I SAID IT.) Even if you don't care about BTS, it is worth getting The BTS Meal just for these sauces.

I was kind of skeptical of these flavours because "spicy" to McDonald's in North America is basically bland to the rest of the world. But these actually pack some heat! The Sweet Chili reminds me of a spicy General Tso's chicken, whereas the Cajun is a creamy, mustard-y, slightly horseradish-y flavour. I favour the Cajun a little bit more, but they're both excellent and I genuinely think McDonald's should make these permanently available here even after the BTS collab is over. As for now, I'm gonna have my fill of these in the BTS Meal while I can.
(And in case you're wondering, yes, I did spend $180 on the BTS x McDonald's merch.)
Wow, I'm glad they have the BTS packaging here! Hope it'll still be in stock when I go lol. I was wondering if you bought any of the BTS x McDonalds merch but looks like you're a mind reader and answered the question before I even had to ask haha :D Looking forward to reading your review/unboxing when it gets here!!
ReplyDeleteI went to my usual McDonald's last night to get the BTS Meal again and they still had all the packaging! I also have a couple friends across the GTA as well as another friend in Winnipeg who all managed to get all the packaging for their BTS Meals, so it seems like Canada is pretty well-stocked. :)
DeleteHaha, I got three things from the BTS x McDonald's collab. :D Did you end up getting anything??
