(Warning: This post is long and extremely photo-heavy.)
Last December, Dispatch announced their BTS collaboration for the 10th volume of their D-ICON magazine. This is BTS' second feature on D-ICON, after their first issue in 2018. For this special edition 10th issue, D-ICON released eight versions: a BTS group version and 7 individual member versions. The pre-order for these started in December, and was officially released in late February; my order from Gmarket (which was the only official retailer that was selling the English version) arrived here last week. As the issues are so heavy, the international shipping cost nearly doubled the retail price and thus I was only able to get one of the group edition books and two individual member books. This particular post is the unboxing for the BTS group version of D-ICON Issue No. 10, which retails for ₩45,590 or $43 USD.

D-ICON Issue No. 10: BTS Goes On! (BTS Edition) — Photobook
It is somewhat misleading to call this a magazine as it is a full-blown editorial photobook, with the group edition including a whopping 304 pages and bound in hardcover. (I would actually compare the weight and size of it to a textbook.) It comes in a white outer box with a black-and-white group photo on the lid. The photobook itself comes bound in a grey hardcover, and features the same group photo in colour on the front with gold embossing. The book includes several different photoshoots for group, subunit, and individual member shots — the majority of the photos were taken exclusively for the 10th issue of D-ICON, but the book also includes the photoshoots from the New York Clearing art installation for CONNECT, BTS from last February, their White Day Special in 2019, and behind-the-scenes shots at Gyeongbukgung Palace for BTS Week on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last fall. There are also interviews and articles scattered throughout the book.

The photos that were taken exclusively for this issue might be some of the most gorgeous, if not the most gorgeous, I've ever seen of BTS, which is really saying something because BTS does not take bad photos. The outfits, the hairstyles, the makeup, the concepts, the poses, the compositions, and the editing are all on-point. Ying and I were even commenting on how perfect those bubbles came out and that the person who was in charge of those bubbles should get a raise. Of course, the group edition issue also includes a flurry of extra goodies as well, including a desk calendar with a lenticular photo cover, a set of 10 photocards (three group shots, seven member shots), a restickable sticker set, and a set of 8 large rolled up posters (one group shot, seven member shots) in a canister.

This issue is sold out across all of their official retailers right now; there are lots of unofficial retailers that are still selling them (including some third party sellers on eBay that have inflated the prices like crazy), but it seems like there will be a re-release available sometime next month. ARMYs who didn't get a copy yet, keep your eyes peeled for the re-release, 'cause I guarantee you, it's worth every single penny — even with the insane international shipping costs.
