BTS' "Life Goes On" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today (the first non-English language song to debut at #1 in Hot 100 history!!!), so Ying and I obviously had to celebrate. We went to check out Machi Machi — a new bubble tea shop that just opened near us that's been getting a lot of attention recently — and got the Black Milk Tea with Crème Brûlée (for me) and the Handmade Brown Sugar Latte (for her). I gotta say, I found it surprisingly worth the hype (*cough*The Alley*cough*); the "crème brûlée" sitting on top of my milk tea had an amazingly authentic flavour and the perfect creamy foam consistency, Ying said there was a good amount of brown sugar flavour in hers and wasn't too milky (a common blunder at bubble tea shops, all milk and not enough brown sugar), and we agreed that the tapioca pearls were some of the best we've had in a while — they had a great chewy consistency that wasn't too firm or too runny.
If the line-up out the door at 3:30PM on a cold, rainy Monday is any indication of how good this place, then Machi Machi might just be the best new bubble tea shop in town. Will definitely come back for our bubble tea needs, even if it's not for a celebration. But as it is, CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN TO BTS ON THEIR FIRST NON-ENGLISH LANGUAGE HOT 100 NO. 1 DEBUT! They have single-handedly shattered records and turned the entire music industry upside down and I have never, ever been more proud to be an Asian or an ARMY.
