Friday Five: Shifting sands

Friday, May 15, 2020
This week's Friday Five:
  1. When did you last feel sand between your toes? I can't pinpoint an exact time, but it's been at least 15 years. I don't go to beaches (or playgrounds) often.

  2. When did you last have a sandwich? Yesterday; egg salad.

  3. What kinds of sandals do you own? I don't wear sandals often these days, but I did go through a sandal phase several years back and lived in these black leather ankle-strap sandals with gold metal hardware from Aldo. I loved them so much, I ended up buying a back-up pair. Wore the shit out of both of them. I also own some cheap Old Navy flip-flops, but I only use them when traveling to wear at hotels (in lieu of slippers).

  4. How trustworthy has the Sandman been these days? I've had pretty messed up sleep since I started this new job in February. I am naturally nocturnal, so now that I'm required to wake up at 5:00AM everyday, I have to try to get into bed by 9:00PM. But my brain just can't shut off at that time, and I end up sleeping around midnight or 1:00AM. But for some reason, I automatically wake up around 4:00AM, so I get super pissed off at myself because I have an hour before my alarm goes off. Happens to me everyday without fail.

  5. What do you know about San Diego? I went there when I was 10, so I'll go off of what I remember. It's in California. My dad went to university there. His best friend still lives there. There are lots of huge houses and pretty beaches. It has lovely, mild weather, even in December. Oh, and the big Comic-Con is held there.

  1. Flip flops are the unofficial state footwear in Hawaii, although nobody here calls them that. And they are an absolute must for hotels when I travel, especially if I'm staying somewhere cheap. I am not going into a shower barefoot if the place isn't sparkling clean, and sometimes I don't stay in such places!

I totally feel you on the sleep thing. Working from home has actually made things worse for me there. Ugh.

I did get some carrot cake Oreos, but they're still in the cabinet, unopened. I hope to get to them soon! This past week it was all about tortilla chips and fresh salsa. What about you?

    1. Wait, what are flip flops called in Hawaii???

I start working from home next Tuesday, so we'll see how that goes! But why has WFH made sleep worse for you? Not moving around enough?

Ooh, chips and salsa is an excellent choice... I haven't had that in a long time. Maybe it should be my next snack. Weirdly enough, I rarely ever get sweet snacks, always opting for salty ones. I haven't gone snack shopping yet, probably will tomorrow. I'm feeling Ruffles Sour Cream & Onion right now, lol.
