Yes, I stayed up until 3:00 AM to watch this, so here are my thoughts:
- Congratulations to BTS on winning first place at Inkigayo! This is their third music show win for "ON"!
- This stage features a 100-metre-wide LED screen and is the biggest stage Inkigayo has ever done for a performance. And rightfully so, because THAT'S WHAT OUR KINGS DESERVE.
- Both performances were flawless, as usual. Kookie's bridge in "ON" still gives me chills. I swear, it's every damn time. More tingling-inducing than any ASMR video out there.
- ALL OF THEM ARE JUST OUT HERE LOOKING LIKE WHOLE DAMN MEALS. From suits to leather, they look good in literally anything, and it's really unfair.
- Okay, listen, if BTS existed as a group in 2003, I would have dumped screamo for BTS in a heartbeat, because...
- JIMIN WITH NAVY HAIR.
- JUNGKOOK WITH DARK TURQUOISE HAIR.
- BUT ALSO THE SMOKY EYES.
- AND ALL THAT POWERFUL ANGST!
- Out of all the Korean music shows, I gotta say, Inkigayo has the worst, most chaotic filming. Like, what the fuck is with the sudden zoom-ins and outs and shaky panning? ARE ALL THE CAMERA OPERATORS DRUNK?
- As we know, people aren't allowed to attend public events in Korea right now due to coronavirus, so there isn't a real audience at any of these music shows, but the applause track still kills me. And the one at Inkigayo is particularly bad because it's just clapping. No whistling, no hollering, no yelling, or screaming. Like, it sounds fake. They couldn't have found the applause from a previous BTS performance to add to the end there? Thank god they didn't keep it in for the re-uploads onto YouTube. As I said before, no applause is better than fake applause.
- Because no fans were allowed to attend the show, all the production staff cheered and waved their hands for BTS throughout their entire winner's encore performance, and it was freaking adorable.
