BANGTAN BOMB: "Boy in Luv" and "Boy With Luv" Special Stages at 2019 Melon Music Awards

Not gonna lie, I totally teared up during this part of their MMA performance. When "Boy in Luv" first came out in 2014, no one cared about BTS. They were still rookies and underdogs; broadcasting stations didn't want to give them screen time, they were always snubbed at music shows, and the K-pop community at large shunned them because they weren't from a "Big 3" company. For them to perform this song on such a huge stage now, as the biggest musical act in the world, is such a surreal, "fuck you" moment, especially transitioning into "Boy With Luv," their biggest single to date that broke dozens of records this year. BTS rightfully deserved all eight awards they won at the MMA this year, and the 37-minute stage that dominated the entire ceremony — showing everyone that cutting them out of broadcasts back then didn't stop them from ruling the industry now.
