This week's Friday Five:
- What's something (besides an electronic device) for which you spent extra money on a protective case? My Quay Australia High Key sunglasses. The case they originally come with aren't particularly protective (it's like a flimsy cloth case, and in fact, I kept my first pair in my purse for a few hours only to find them totally crooked and scratched up so I had to buy a second pair), so I had to buy a hard case for them.
- What product's packaging do you find excessive or inadequate? Macarons. These fuckers cost like, $3 a piece. Can't macaron retailers have boxes that protect them from knocking against each other and shattering everywhere? I swear, you can just be holding them, treating them even more gently than a newborn child, and those cookie shells will crumble on their own. Like, they're not even safe at Ladurée, where you pay extra for those pretty bougie-looking boxes. I swear, only Pierre Hermé knows what's up.
- What are your preferences for food storage containers? I use the Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids containers. They're relatively inexpensive and totally reliable. 10/10, would recommend.
- This coming week, what would you like to be shielded from? Work stress. Holiday season is upon us (yes, Christmas is before Thanksgiving, apparently), and it's only going to be insanely hectic from here on out until the new year.
- What's something interesting you're keeping in a plastic storage box in your home? Old concert ticket stubs. I still have the ones from the Matthew Good Band/Moist concert at Air Canada Centre in 1999, Korn at Skydome (RIP) in 2000, Vans Warped Tour at Molson Park (RIP) in 2000, Alexisonfire/From Autumn to Ashes at The Opera House in 2003... It's a seriously emo walk down memory lane.
You know what's really inadequately packaged? Lightbulbs. Your mention of macarons for some reason made me think of lightbulbs.
ReplyDeleteNever thought about it, but you're totally right. For something so delicate, manufacturers really do treat lightbulbs like shit.
