Went to Dakgogi with Chelsea to try out their Korean fried chicken. (Long weekend means cheat weekend?) We got half and half of their original and yangnyeom chicken, with a side of spicy tteokbokki. While the tteokbokki was decent (I wish the rice cakes were thicker and chewier, but the sauce was really good), the chicken was excellent. The batter was thin, perfectly crispy, satisfyingly crackly, and not greasy at all; the original was seasoned perfectly and the yangnyeom (we got mild 'cause we learned our lesson with Korean spice levels, but the server was kind enough to give us a side of their spicy yangnyeom sauce for free) was sweet and tangy with the just the right level of spice, enough to give a kick but not enough to set our mouths on fire. (Strangely enough, they were playing Korean ballads on the sound system but BTS videos on their televisions. It would've been the perfect experience if the audio matched the video they were playing.) Excellent service, as well, and actually the most spacious Korean fried chicken restaurant I've been to in the city. Would definitely come again to try the padak and spicy soy garlic chicken next time.
