Housemade fluffy cheesecake with grapes and mangoes

Rahier Patisserie Pompadour Cake

Korean-style macarons from Young's Macaron: Golden Kiwi, Earl Grey Milk Tea, Blueberry Yogurt, Injeolmi, Oreo, and Espresso Crunch

Went to get some after-work treats with Tuta at Korean dessert house Café Login because having to work during long weekend means WE DESERVE SUGAR. Our choices: their housemade signature fluffy cheesecake topped with grapes and mangoes (their cheesecakes come with a variety of fruits, but Tuta is allergic to quite a lot of them), the Pompadour cake (pistachio praline buttercream mousse) from Rahier Patisserie, and some Korean-style macarons from Young's Macaron. (Don't worry, I took some of the macarons home. There is actually such a thing as too much dessert.) The cakes are excellent, as expected, but the macarons took me by surprise. I say "surprise," because these aren't your traditional French macarons; they are bigger and have a very different ratio of cookie to filling, and the flavours are far more unique than your standard fare. I got them for fun, not really expecting much. But the texture and consistency are truly impressive: The meringue cookies are crisp on the outside but have an incredible chew on the inside that never crumble or break off, and the fillings are thick, creamy, and flavourful but never feel heavy. I don't want to say they're better than the famous French patisseries, but they are incredible in their own right. I only wish they were more widely available. Apparently, they're not going to be carried at Café Login after tomorrow. I might actually DM them on Instagram to see where I can get more.
