My BTS Funko Pop! figures arrived today! (I got mine from NY Collector Cave because back when Funko they announced their release, this was one of the few sites that was doing pre-orders that also shipped to Canada. Shipping was expensive, but they were also doing a 10% off all Funko Pop! promotion at the time, so at least I saved $10 USD. But Canadians can actually get them at Hot Topic stores now, or from Pop in a Box if you don't live near a Hot Topic.) They're wearing the outfits from this photoshoot, and I thought the attention to deal on their clothes and hair were pretty well done. They even got their eyeshadow colours pretty spot on! (Jungkook's eyebrows are not actually magenta in the photoshoot, though. Just sayin.') Anyway, this is the closest I'll get to collecting BTS dolls. 'Cause those Mattel ones are creepy AF.

The Mattel dolls are only half as creepy as the SCANDAL dolls (which can be seen in their PV for 「Doll」from twelve years ago. They all looked the same in their schoolgirl uniforms except hairstyle, guitar, bass or drum and necktie or bow.
ReplyDeleteIt would have cheaper to send the girls to Korea and have them surgically altered to look like the dolls.
LOL, those dolls are pretty damn creepy. But the song is actually really catchy! Reminds me of those late '90s/early 2000s girl bands like Letters to Cleo or Lillix. :)
DeleteI actually hate dolls in general. I have a weird phobia of synthetic hair.
