BTS (feat. Halsey) — "Boy With Luv" Official Teaser #1

This morning, BigHit released the teaser for BTS' title track from Map of the Soul: Persona, called "Boy With Luv" (the Korean title of the song is "작은 것들을 위한 시," which translates to "A Poem for the Small Things"), and features Halsey. We only get to hear about two seconds of the song, and I already know it's gonna be a bop. (Legit, I played it for my mom and she immediately started humming it afterwards.) This collaboration isn't actually that surprising as Halsey and BTS have been friends for years and Halsey has always been outspoken about her love for them. (I am somewhat surprised that they chose a collab for their title track, though.) But there are tons of "ARMY" who are "dropping" BTS because they don't like her. And when asked why they don't like her, they have no fucking idea. They've never listened to her music. They don't know what her voice sounds like. They just know that she dresses subversively and that they "must protect the boys from Halsey!" They think she's a clout chaser and are using BTS for fame. What these people don't realize is how fucking ignorant they are.

They don't know that Halsey's first album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum, that her second album debuted at #1 and that four of its singles charted on the Billboard Hot 100, that she's already collaborated with huge artists like The Chainsmokers and Khalid. They don't realize that she's a Grammy-nominated artist. She's a hard-working, gorgeous, confident woman in her early 20s, and they feel fucking threatened. Do they think BTS are these innocent, naive virgins who have never seen a sexy woman before? Literally two of my ARMY friends (one that I met online, one that I met in real life at the BT21 pop-up shop in Toronto last year) straight-up told me they don't like Halsey and when I asked why, one said, "I dunno, I guess it's cause I don't follow her or listen to her music." And the other said, "I don't listen to her music, but I just don't like the way she looks." Uhhh, what? (And you can't even blame it on the naiveté of youth. One of them is 26, and the other is in her mid-30s.) I'm not even a diehard fan of Halsey, and I know that she's a talented, hard-working singer-songwriter who started at the bottom and made her way to the top. People need to get their fucking facts straight and be happy for both BTS and Halsey that they get to work with each other as talented, hard-working, passionate musicians who are friends and support one another.

Okay, rant over. I, for one, can't wait for this song to drop and see where this new era takes us.
