Tonight's dinner: Spanish paella with flavoured rice, mussels, black tiger shrimp, chicken, bell peppers, sausage, plum tomatoes, onion, zucchini, carrots and mushrooms at The Pickle Barrel. It was okay, somewhat bland despite the variety of seafood and veg, but still palatable enough to finish. Let's just say it tasted healthy. (Let me tell you, the urge to add salt was intense. But I resisted. For the sake of my blood pressure.) JOEY has a much better variation of paella, in my opinion. I knew there was a reason I hadn't returned to The Pickle Barrel in five years. (JOEY opened on the other side of the same mall just over five years ago, so we promptly dropped the mediocre Pickle Barrel.) Plus, it literally took 15 minutes for a server to even greet us, let alone get us water. Sorry, but there are dozens of more efficient dining establishments with tastier options within a 5 kilometre radius. And so, the quest for healthy dining continues.
