This week's Saturday Nine:
- In this song, Harry sings, "We don't talk enough, we should open up before it's all too much." When you have something serious on your mind, who do you share it with? My mom or my friend Ronsee.
- As a kid, Harry wanted to be a lawyer because he can see "both sides." Are you good at seeing both sides of an argument? When I was younger, I'd say no. I was stubborn and always took a side. But having gained a lot more experience and perspective over the years has enabled me to see both sides of an argument easily now as an adult. (And I almost always play devil's advocate.)
- He can't decide which is favourite colour — orange or blue. Help Harry out: which of those colours do you prefer? In general, I prefer blue. For example, if I had to paint a wall or my nails, or had to choose a clothing item or a car colour, I'd always pick blue between the two. The only exception to this rule is in makeup, in which case I'll always pick orange.
- Harry says he prefers older women, but would never go out with someone older than his mother. Do you think age disparity matters in romance? I think age matters to a certain extent, at least in long-term romances. Ultimately, I think it depends on the age variation, because a 10 to 15 year difference isn't really significant when you're an adult, but I think if we're looking at more than 20 years, then yes, it usually does affect a relationship. There's a generational gap at that point; couples will have less and less in common in both experiences, perceptions, opinions, etc., which typically leads to a lot of disagreements, arguments, and break-ups. (Obviously, there are outliers, so I'm talking very generally here.) That having been said, if it's just for a physical romance, then hey, as long as you're both above the legal age, attracted to each other, and all your parts are working, go for it!
- He admits to a big crush on Adele, who is six years older than he is. Who are you crushing on right now? (It doesn't have to be a celebrity.) Ryan Gosling, always and forever. He's just the most reliable celebrity crush. Talented, charming, entertaining, and handsome — for nearly two decades now (since the Breaker High days!). I mean, there have been other celebrity crushes, of course, but they don't stand the test of time like Ryan. On that note, I haven't had a real life crush in a long while now.
- It makes Harry's skin crawl when he sees people use their teeth to open bottles. What creeps you out? Clowns. They've creeped me out since I was a child (my mother can confirm this — I outright refused to be in the same room with a clown at a friend's 6th birthday party), but after watching Stephen King's It when I was 10, the fear only became worse. And now that there's a new version of It out in theatres (as of yesterday, actually), I consciously have to avoid the posters, billboards, trailers, and ads for them.
- When he's on the road, his go-to food is tacos. Do you like Mexican food? I sure do! I go to Z-Teca at least once a week 'cause there's one right by my work. My go-to order is three tacos, two chicken and one steak, with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole on corn tortillas. Yummmm.
- Harry has never smoked. Have you ever been a smoker? If you quit, how did you successfully kick the habit? I am still a smoker.
- Random Question: As she pulls out of her parking space, an elderly woman in an old car scrapes an expensive car. Then she drives away. You witness the whole thing. Do you make a note of her license plate and leave it for the owner of the expensive car? Or do you just mind your own business? I'd leave a note. I don't have a particularly expensive car, but it's still my baby and I spent five years paying for it, so I'd want someone to do that for me. Karma is karma. I don't give a shit how old you are, or how old your car is. If you're too blind to see, then you shouldn't be driving, period. There's no excuse.
