I love that MAC and Mariah came out with two amazingly wearable eye palettes for all skintones — whether you're fair or dark, warm or cool, you won't look at either of them and think, "I could never wear that." Every single shadow in this collection is a workhorse shade that can be worn alone or in any combination within either palette to create gorgeous, cohesive looks. The addition of Twinks keeps It's Everything from leaning too cool, but that having been said, if you were looking for a straight-up cool neutral palette, then Twinks might be a deal-breaker for you because it does have red undertones that some people avoid. On that note, I do wish that MAC had included a non-permament shade, since all the other shades in both palettes are new and limited edition (and named after Mariah songs and lyrics!). That having been said, all four shades here are smooth, pigmented, and blendable; I didn't have any texture or colour pay-off issues (though I will note that Diamond Butterfly does have some fall-out because of the sparkly finish). Like Mariah's own makeup aesthetic, both palettes are neutral with a healthy dose of shimmer that can be worn from day to night, and despite the fact that the gorgeous packaging and the special edition nature of the collaboration will already be enough grounds for many to buy these, I genuinely think both palettes will work in anyone's arsenal and are entirely worth getting — whether you're a Mariah fan or not.
