Imagine an eyeshadow that has the smooth, lightweight texture, metallic finish, and instant opaque colour pay-off of the Extra Dimension Eyeshadows, but with the high sparkle content of the Pressed Pigments, and the wet/dry usage of Mineralize Eyeshadows. That is MAC's new Foiled Shadow. Each and every shade is stunning, totally mesmerizing, every magpie's dream. It is equal parts ethereal fairy (making the debut of these in a collection called Faerie Whispers entirely appropriate) and disco queen. Whether used wet or dry, over primer or not, these have phenomenal pigmentation, but also layer up and blend out beautifully. Regardless of which shades tickle your fancy, these are must-haves for anyone who loves shimmery eyeshadow, and I can only hope that MAC makes these permanent one day (and comes out with more shades while they're at it!).
Ah, these are gorgeous neutrals! I was thinking of ordering one, but then several bloggers mentioned that they were just too shimmery in person, and I have been not too keen on super shimmery shadows lately, so I passed. But they are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLol, these are definitely shimmery. I don't know what these bloggers mean by "too shimmery in person" means, because THEY ARE SHIMMERY EYESHADOWS and are marketed as such. Like, what do they expect from a product called Foiled Shadow from a collection called Faerie Whispers?! I personally would never say they're "too shimmery in person," 'cause that's definitely subjective and relative to what you think is shimmery to begin with. But if you're not keen on super shimmery shadows, then it makes sense to pass.
DeleteI couldn't find that many swatches, so it was hard to tell, lol! I like subtle shimmer, but I was thinking about Stila's Kitten and how that sometimes went a bit over the top for me (even though I used up a pan of it back in the day when I owned maybe three shadows! LOL). I wasn't sure if people meant that there were like, chunks of shimmer, or if it was more metallic, or what, so I just gave up, lol. Makeup should not be this much work :P
DeleteLol, yeah, these are definitely not subtle shimmer -- they're pretty DISCO QUEEN, lol! I wouldn't say they're chunks of shimmer, but they're definitely metallic with sparkle (imagine an Extra Dimension Shadow meets a Mineralize Shadow). From the sounds of it, though, these would be too sparkly for you. :P
