Say hello to MAC's version of the Chubby Stick! It was only a matter of time before MAC jumped on this bandwagon, especially given that MAC and Clinique have the same mother company. There are some differences, however; in terms of pigmentation, the Patentpolish Lip Pencils lie somewhere between the regular Chubby Stick and Chubby Stick Intense. In general, these have medium pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. These also have a rounder, flatter tip so it applies more like a lipstick than a true pencil. In terms of texture, however, these feel and look a whole lot like the Huggable Lipcolours that came out in January — they have a lightweight, almost gel-like texture that feels like they cling on to the lip and have less slip, which helps the colour from bleeding. I also found that these have an almost "blurring" effect, smoothing out the texture of my lips completely so they look almost like glass. They're lightly hydrating and does get very slightly tacky over time, which I find helps a bit with the wear-time, which is about three hours at most. If you missed out on the Huggable Lipcolours in January or you're a fan of the crayon barrel-style lip products, these might be worth checking out.
I saw these todays but didn't swatch because nothing really stood out to me. But I freaking love that Huggable you gave me, so now I'm in trouble.
ReplyDelete:D I wish Huggable was permanent. I LOVE THEM. Doesn't it make your lips look perfect? As if you had lip injections or something?
DeleteI quite like these pencils! You gotta wear them to really appreciate them, though.
It, like, STRETCHES to cover the lips completely evenly. It's so weird/cool!
DeleteRIGHT??? I feel like it's something you have to experience. You can't describe it properly with words. I had my doubts about Huggables when I first saw them. Then I tried 'em on, and I was like, OMG MY LIPS LOOK STUNNING. LOL.
DeleteTried on Pleasant today! Super pretty and comfortable. But alas, Sephora took all my money this month, LOL.
Deletehmmm the blurring lip effect sounds sort of interesting. i haven't really gone in for any of MAC's latest lip released (but looking at Liz's comment, I sort of wish I had tried a huggables out)

A Beautiful Zen
MAC releases so many new products that it's kind of hard to pick and choose what to check out, but I really quite like these. No harm checking them out, especially if you missed out on Huggable (which was rather a sleeper hit because they became so much more noticed/coveted after they were long gone, lol).
DeleteTeen Dream has screamed to me from every post I've seen, but the name...Denise...the name...hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteI need to hit a MAC counter for more Fix+, but now I'm scared :P
LOL! I LOVE THE NAME. Actually, Teen Dream is probably my favourite shade from this launch. And given your recent affinity to all things orange, you should defs check it out. :)
DeleteHaha, don't be scared. Just go in, get your Fix+, try on Teen Dream, and call it a day... GOOD LUCK. :D
I think I'll have to take your word for it that you gotta wear these to like 'em...the texture doesn't look like my kinda thing, but sometimes the drier lipsticks don't do me any favours either. Wonder if any are still kicking around my local store...
ReplyDeleteThere should be several shades still available in store. If you like the Chubby Sticks, you'll probably like these. I do find that these hug the lips better, though, and they create more of a glassy effect than Chubby Sticks. No harm in trying, right? :)
