A Medley of Mauves #1 is a light cool-toned lilac-pink with silver shimmer-sheen in a metallic finish. The texture is somewhat gritty and powdery, and can go on patchy and unevenly as a result. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. When used wet or over a base, it becomes more metallic and significantly more opaque. It is darker than Pink Freeze, more muted than Seedy Pearl, and lighter and more lilac than Swish.
A Medley of Mauves #2 is a medium pink-toned purple with silver sparkle in a metallic finish. The texture is somewhat gritty and powdery, and can go on patchy and unevenly as a result. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. When used wet or over a base, it becomes more metallic and significantly more opaque. It is lighter and less pink than Plum Dressing, more muted and more pink than Creme de Violet, and darker and more purple than Stars 'n Rockets.
A Medley of Mauves #3 is a dark warm plum with brown undertones in a frosted finish. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. When used wet or over a base, it becomes more metallic and significantly more opaque. It is lighter and more purple than Sketch, more purple than Mulch, and warmer and more brown than Nocturnelle.
A Medley of Mauves #4 is a medium-dark plum-bronze with a golden pearlized sheen in a satin finish. The texture is soft and silky, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. When used wet or over a base, it becomes more metallic and more opaque. It is more plum than Mulch, lighter and more golden than Twinks, and darker and more bronze than Sable.
Those who like Mineralize Eyeshadows may like the idea of having four different shades altogether in one compact. As these are baked eyeshadows, they have a drier, lightweight texture and are meant to have buildable colour pay-off, so those who like their eyeshadows to be rich, pigmented, and buttery right off the bat may not have patience with these. What I like about Mineralize Eyeshadows is that they're quite versatile because you can use them both wet and dry, so you can execute anything from sheer washes of colour to full-blown saturated colour. These seem very similar in concept and formula to Chanel's baked eyeshadow quads, so if you're a fan of those, you may be drawn to these. Despite this palette being a little grittier in texture overall, I actually found it easy to blend and pack on in execution (I used NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base first). The end result looks gorgeous, too; I got more compliments while wearing this eye palette than any of the others. I also find this one really flattering against all skintones and undertones. If you're a fan of purple palettes, this one is really quite stunning and works all year 'round.
I would look like I got into a bad fight if I tried these :( I like that third shade a lot, though!
ReplyDeleteLol, I won't disagree with you because it all depends on your application, but I will say that the shimmery finishes in these do keep it from looking too bruise-y. :P
DeleteSo pretty but I never buy shades like this. No clue why!
ReplyDeleteI dunno! Maybe you'll go through a pinky-plum phase? :P
DeleteI love these types of shades. Outside of neutrals, plums/purples are the colours I use most in eyeshadow! But you gotta be careful with placement of the colours 'cause you can look like you got punched in the eye. :P
I am not trying to follow the pack but I agree on this account too that these aren't my kinda shades. I like LOOKING at them, but wearing them is a whole different story. If they were slightly deeper in pigment or more purple or reddish, they'd work for me though!
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat, these types of shades look PARTICULARLY good on your complexion!!! I would say that adding a more matte shade would help ground these shades better, but other than that, you can TOTALLY rock these!
