MAC RiRi ♥ MAC Fall: Pro Longwear Lip Pencils

Last week, MAC released a new collection in collaboration with Rihanna called RiRi ♥ MAC Fall. It is the second collection that was created by Rihanna for MAC, and is one of three colour collaboration collections (one collection was launched in the summer, and the last one will be launched in-stores for holiday). RiRi ♥ MAC Fall consists of 20 products, and sees the release of two new and limited edition shades of Pro Longwear Lip Pencil. It comes in special edition pale pink packaging featuring Rihanna's signature and logo in various shades of pink with metallic rose gold cardstock packaging. Each Pro Longwear Lip Pencil contains 1.2 grams of product, and retails for $25.50.

Talk That Talk is a blackened berry-plum. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft and creamy texture, and goes on smoothly but due to the darkness of the shade, it can look a bit uneven and patchy. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is similar to Nightmoth Lip Pencil, and darker than Vino Lip Pencil.

RiRi Woo is a medium-dark vibrant blue-toned cherry red. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft and creamy texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is similar to Cherry Lip Pencil, and cooler than Kiss Me Quick.

I've always been a fan of the Pro Longwear Lip Pencil formula — they feel creamy and smooth going on, glide on effortlessly with full colour pay-off, dries down to a matte finish, and once they set, they do not budge. They wear for at least six hours; these ones wear at least eight without fading. That having been said, I don't think they're must-haves for the sole purpose of wearing with their lipstick counterparts. As Talk That Talk and RiRi Woo lipsticks both have Retro Matte finishes, they're already quite dry and clingy on their own and as a result, are already long-wearing and less prone to bleeding and feathering. If you're looking for a bright cool-toned red liner, RiRi Woo is a nice option, but MAC has so many similar shades in both the regular Lip Pencil formula and the Pro Longwear formula that, unless the packaging and/or limited edition aspect is important to you, you might as well pay less for regular packaging. And though Talk That Talk is a very unique shade in the Pro Longwear Lip Pencil formula, I have found that Nightmoth Lip Pencil is extremely similar in colour, applies much more evenly, is equally as long-wearing, and is cheaper to boot.
