Chinese Dumpling House

Ronsee and I decided to start the Year of the Snake off right with our first meal out at Chinese Dumpling House:

Deep-fried green onion pancakes

Steamed lamb dumplings

Steamed lamb dumpling (innards)

Steamed chicken and mushroom dumplings

Steamed chicken and mushroom dumpling (innards)

We always get pork and leek or pork and cabbage or pork and celery (basically anything with pork) dumplings when we're there, so we decided to try two other types today. Both the lamb and the chicken and mushroom dumplings were phenomenal — hot, juicy, flavourful fillings in perfectly soft wrappers. Not better than the pork options, but definitely just as satisfying. I've never had lamb dumplings before, and they were positively delightful; it's like a gamier version of a pork dumpling. I still maintain that Chinese Dumpling House still serves some of the best dumplings I've had in the city. Seriously, I've yet to be disappointed with anything I eat at that place. And our meal came to $17 after tax and tip for two people. I hope this is a sign of many delicious cheap eats for the year to come...

  1. YOU GUYS DO THINGS RIGHT.

I'll get up there someday and help make sure they stay in business. You can't find anything like this downtown. :(

    1. Haha, when we eat dumplings, WE EAT DUMPLINGS. NOM.

I find it odd that there are few good dumpling restaurants downtown. You'd think there'd be at least one really amazing one in Chinatown... But I guess Markham is more like Chinatown than Chinatown itself... :P You needs to enjoy their dumplings at least once, Liz! Make the trek uptown! :)
