MAC Après Chic: Mineralize Skinfinishes

on
Friday, January 4, 2013

Last Thursday, MAC released their first post-holiday colour collection called Après Chic. It is inspired by "natural glamour [that] appears effortless." This collection is comprised of 30 products —19 of which is new and limited edition, three of which are re-promotes, five of which are new and permanent, and three of which are permanent. Après Chic sees the release of two shades of Mineralize Skinfinish, both of which are re-promotes and are limited edition. Mineralize Skinfinish is "a luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish to add buffed-up highlights to cheeks, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face." Each Mineralize Skinfinish comes in regular black packaging with a clear lid, contains 10 grams of product, and retails for $34.

Stereo Rose

Porcelain Pink

Stereo Rose and Porcelain Pink

Stereo Rose is a medium pinked coral with gold and bronze veining and a subtle champagne-gold metallic-sheen. This is a re-promoted shade from 2005's Goldplay collection, and is limited edition. It has a soft, silky, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is much more coral than Gold Deposit, less pink than Peachykeen Blush, and lighter and less bronze than Peachtwist Blush.
Porcelain Pink is a light peachy pink with gold veining and a champagne-gold metallic-sheen. This is a re-promoted shade from 2004's High Tea collection, and is limited edition. It has a soft, silky, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more pink and less metallic than Soft and Gentle.

Well, if you missed your chance to pick up Stereo Rose last time it was released (during 2010's In the Groove collection), pick it up now. Although by the time this post is up, Stereo Rose will likely be sold out at all store locations since it sold out online in approximately one hour. I actually didn't own Stereo Rose before this collection's release, so I knew I had to snatch one up this time around. I can see why it's so popular and such a coveted product, though; it's wildly flattering across all skintones and undertones, and makes skin look smooth, glowing, and perfectly flushed. Just beautiful. Porcelain Pink is not as much of a must-have by comparison, but it is nice to have as a highlighter. It's not as stark as Soft and Gentle or Lightscapade, so for those who wanted another highlight option from MAC, this is a really nice one. I also find that it's not as metallic as a typical Mineralize Skinfinish. Both of them have fantastic, finely-milled textures that go on very smoothly and evenly, and not powdery at all. Definitely loving the release of these, but if you miss out on them, there are still plenty of dupes that can be found.

  1. The hype about Stereo Rose was before my time before I started blogging so I had no idea what the big deal was. Wear this next time we meet so I can understand! :)

    1. Haha, I will definitely wear it next time I see you! It's one of those colours that you can wear on its own or layer it lightly on top of another blush to give it a corally glow. So lovely!
