MAC Après Chic: Mineralize Blushes

Last Thursday, MAC released their first post-holiday colour collection called Après Chic. It is inspired by "natural glamour [that] appears effortless." This collection is comprised of 30 products —19 of which is new and limited edition, three of which are re-promotes, five of which are new and permanent, and three of which are permanent. Après Chic sees the release of three shades of Mineralize Blush, of which two are new and limited edition, and one is permanent (not reviewed here). Mineralize Blush is "refined powder formula to provide exceptionally sheer and lightweight application... that veils and enhances the cheekbones with a luminous, pearlized shimmer." Each Mineralize Blush comes in regular black packaging with a clear lid, contains 3.2 grams of product, and retails for $28.

Alpine Bronze and Amber Glow

Alpine Bronze and Amber Glow

Alpine Bronze is a medium peach caramel with a soft champagne-gold shimmer-sheen. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, silky, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is lighter than Peachtwist, and more peach than Sunbasque.
Amber Glow is a light apricot peach with a soft pale champagne shimmer-sheen. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, silky, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more peach and more shimmery than Tenderling.

I've always been a fan of Mineralize Blushes because of the way they sit on the skin. They just make cheeks look smooth and luminous and naturally glowing without being too shiny or shimmery or metallic, and they don't emphasize lines or pores. The texture is so finely-milled, it feels almost like silk going on. Both of these shades are beautiful for a more natural, lit-from-within glow. Alpine Bronze is more brown-based than orange, so it should work on all skintones and undertones. Amber Glow will be more suited as a blush for fair to medium skintones, whereas it will work better as a soft highlighter for medium-dark to deep dark skintones. Either way, it adds a stunning luminosity to the skin. I find both of them to be just gorgeous and perfect for those looking for an "everyday" blush.

  1. I think these shades are really interesting considering the winter ski theme. Not the typical wind-flushed look that everyone else is going for, ya know?

    1. They're more like "I got beautifully sunkissed and perfectly glowy while skiing on the slopes" kind of colours, LOL.

I like that these can be worn all year round, though. The textures are to die for, too. :)
