Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush in Petal

Dior released a product called Rosy Glow with their Spring 2012 collection that is widely raved about on beauty blogs and videos, so I decided to purchase one during a midnight online shopping spree on Sephora. This blush features a technology called Fresh Colour Reveal, which "intuitively adjusts to the moisture of each skin to make the cheeks blush with delight." This blush is meant to reveal "fresh and luminous colour that develops a rosy radiance to match each skin tone for an all-day ultra-natural, customized, and healthy glow effect." Going forward, this product will be apart of Dior's permanent line-up. It has a subtle rose scent when being applied but it's completely undetectable once it's on. Each blush comes in a rectangular mirrored compact with a silver top that has Dior's logo embossed in the centre and a clear plastic bottom. Each compact includes a small cheek brush, contains 7.5 grams of product, and retails for $45.

Petal is a light-medium cool-toned cotton candy pink that slowly adjusts to your skintone to create a custom pink shade. In an arm swatch, it looks lighter and chalkier than the shade in the pan, but it will look very different once applied to the face. When I wear this, it turns into a medium soft warm pink in a natural satin finish. When you first sweep it on, it doesn't look like much, but as Dior states, it "gradually intensifies as if by magic." You can get a pretty vibrant pink hue on your cheeks with this by layering, but the shade will still adjust itself according to your skin. It is a silky, finely milled powder that goes on very smoothly and evenly. The powder is not so soft that it feels buttery, but it isn't dry, either. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque colour pay-off, but can be easily layered to build opacity and is also easily blendable. Because of the nature of a self-adjusting shade, it is hard to state dupes of this, but the product in theory is similar to Stila Custom Color Blush and Smashbox O-Glow (which is in gel form).

Expensive, but so, so gorgeous. It sits beautifully on the skin and looks naturally luminous. This is such a great blush for fair to medium-dark skintones — it's completely foolproof because it adjusts to your skin so you know it will always compliment your skintone. It never looks powdery or chalky; it kind of has this "soft focus" effect on your skin, so your complexion just looks smooth, rosy, and glowing. Oh, and it lasts all day, too. I wore it for a good ten hours before it started to fade. A beautiful and unique (!) addition to my blush collection, and totally wearable all year round.

  1. Pretty but not tempted!! That is until they release a coral/peach or red blush. Then I'm doomed!

    1. Haha, I don't discriminate -- I LOVE ALL BLUSH. But seriously, if they come out with a coral/peach one in this style... I'm doomed, too. :(

Let's be honest, though, it's the packaging that really sucked me in for this one...
